The case of Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird was not entirely fictitious, but rather modeled after a famous and historical trial that took place in the 1930's, when Harper Lee was about five years old, involving men who came to be known as "The Scottsboro Boys". We will be researching this case and creating a graphic organizer that compares and contrasts the Scottsboro Boys versus the State of Alabama and Tom Robinson versus the State of Alabama.
